Sacrifice

I’d give you a body, riddled with marks
from the lashes I’ve taken
for the beliefs I’ve lost faith in.
I’d give you a heart, black and scarred
with the flames I’ve drowned in
time and time again.  
I’d give you a soul, empty and apathetic
with the fights I’ve lost so many times
trying to defend myself.  
I’d give you a song, harsh and bitter
as the words I’ve been given
over and over.
I’d give my life to see you live
another day, to see you flourish
in the world I failed in.
I’d give anything not to see
you turn away from me
in my time of despair.
